10 Oct 2009 - OPEN CHAMPIONSHIPS
 
The Arena UK Premier Equestrian Centre based at Grantham,Lincolnshire played host to the British Horseball Association.When over 100 horses and riders arrived last Friday 8th October 2009 ready to compete in the Open Championships. This event being the last competition in the 2009 season for the horseball teams.  They travelled from all around the country to take part. The matches were spread over the two days Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th October 2009.
 
The whole week-end was sponsored by  POLYPADS LIMITED based at Thetford,Norfolk. Polypads Limited also kindly sponsored the British Horseball International Senior and Junior teams this year that represented Great Britain in France of this year. The teams were sponsored with G.B polypads for all the horses and ponies and also new G.B team shirts for each rider.
 
The top 3 Junior teams won vouchers.
 
Samantha Coulman of London Firsts won the 2009 Most Improved Player.
 
Catlin Gregory from Newnham - on -Severn Juniors won 2009 Player of the week-end tournament
 
Matty Fawcett of South Causey Juniors won the best Goal Awards for the week-end tournament.
 
Emma  McGriskin of London Extras took home the Best Turned Out for the week-end tournament.
 
The Retraining of Race Horse Charity Trophy was awarded to Mikey Barton of Newnham - on Severn Seniors for Best Re-Trained race horse.
 
Once again another award was presented to Newnham - on - Severn,this time the Newnham Juniors
took home the prize for the Best Presented team at vetting each morning.
 
All the above awards were sponsored by :-
 
R.O.R. for best ex-race horse trophy.
Worshipful Company of Saddlers for the junior winners saddlery tokens.
British Horse Feed for giving Fibre-Beet vouchers to the best horses/ponies at the morning vet inspections.
Rosettes,polypads,t-shirts and head band prizes sponsored by polypads.
