To get going you need 4 basic requirements:-
A horse or pony
3 or 4 friends to play with
A coach
A ball, a goal and somewhere safe to play.
How do I find a coach?
A list of approved BHA coaches can be found in the documents section of the BHA Web Site
www.british-horseball-association.btik.com
Your own riding instructor can contact the regional BEF coach educator Sarah Green to discuss beoming a Horseball UKCC accredited coach.
Practice goals can be made from plumbers piping made into a circle and suspended from the roof or mounted on a scaffolding pole.

What equipment do I need?
The pick-up strap binds the stirrups together under the horse's belly. It is used to pick up the ball from the ground.
The ball is a size-4 football surrounded by a harness with 6 handles.
Although leather is much better, you can make cheap balls with synthetic strap.

What sort of horse or pony do I need?
Any horse or Pony will play horseball and many of those playing also show jump and dressage, we even have race horses playing in-between races!
Like any new discipline, the horse needs to be introduced to the ball and the other horses sensibly and gradually and to practice the basics before moving on too quickly
If you dont have a team to play with-why not train to become a referee? Expenses are paid and it gets you to meet potential other players
